Today we got to open our gift from Kathy Logan - these are the most beautiful altered domino's, Kathy took two dominos and made them into a mini accordian book. The designs inside are peel and stick stickers. Very Beautiful Kathy Thank You!! They will be treasured.
On the Fourth Day of Christmas Susan Zachary gave us each a small does of Spring to brighten up the winter cold. These are beautifully altered puzzle pieces turned into magnets. If anyone has a differnt design then the two below please send me photos so I can show them off:-) Thank You Susan Z., my two are already on my fridge.
I may be hosting three groups of this swap but I do want to everyone to know that I stole this idea from Holly Vlajinac from Yahoo groups Art E-Zine Cafe - Holly is also hosting 3 groups as well and so I want to share The Artful Christmas Swap blog with everyone so that you can see all the beautifully done art work that these ladies made - If your curious as to which one are mine I am in group 2 of this swap - scroll down and you can also see how these gifts were beautifully and creatively wrapped. Most of you may be familar with Art E-Zine vintage resousces, a website with lots and lots of beautiful and unique ephemera, if not go check it out bookmark the site for future use and if you are well go check it out again - You WILL always find something you didn't see the last time you were there. So just a small thank you to Holly who gave me the great idea to host this swap, even with the few minor porblems getting to the end I will do this again next year.
Group 1's Third Day of Christmas from Theresa Pillow - This plaque was made from a $Tree coaster the background is my own HMP (see Saturday April 21, 2007 - Elizabeth's teaching at work) The image is from The 2006 Christmas Countdown sponsered by Lisa Vollrath from Ten Two Studios and Go Make Something
Please ladies in group 2 - if your pins are differnt then the two above and you have a camera please send me pictures of you pins I would love to show off all of Kayla's pins. Kayla they are beautiful pins I hope you'll share via the comments how you made them. Time to share another gift with everyone! The Third Day of Christmas gift was made for us by Suzi Sayles - she made a very nice Christmas accordian book a small beautiful reminder of what the season is all about - I sometimes think in the hussle and bussle of shopping and parties that we sometimes let it slip our minds of just what Christmas is all about. So take a moment to enjoy Suzi's gift and remember the true REASON FOR THE SEASON. Thank You Suzi.
Well it's midnight here in Tennessee so time to share ABC's 2nd Day of Christmas gifts with you.
Check back tomorrow to enjoy The Third Day of Christmas gifts. It will be well worth the time.
In my ABC groups we ended up one day short so you will notice that my Puzzle Art Plus group will be a day ahead of the rest.
Day 2's gift was made by me Theresa Pillow - it is a large altered puzzle piece that can be used by the recipiant however they choose to display it. The background of these puzzles is my own handmade paper (see April 21, 2007 Elizabeth's Teaching at Work!), I was taught how to make this HMP by Elizabeth Kertz - Head Honcho at ABC Altered Book Club. I'm not positive, but if you check out her blog she may have a 'how to' on making HMP - I'm sorry I don't at this time.
The photo image and Labeled words (Merry Christmas and Joy) came from the 2006 Christmas Coundown sponsered by Lisa Vollrath of Ten Two Studios- check out this years Christmas Countdown.
In two of my yahoo groups I hosted a 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS swap (idea came from the Art E-Zines Artfull Christmas swap hosted by Holly V.) I ended up with three groups total.
So the gifts are below starting with Day 1
ABC Altered Book Club Group 1 by Theresa Pillow a coaster made from a ceramic tile using alcohol inks and 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' rubber stamp
Check back everyday right up to and including Christmas Day to see all the wonderfully creative gifts made by my fellow artists - I promise to do my best to upload the pictures everyday, but please remember that it is the Christmas season and instead of shopping I am busy at my sewing machine so if I forget a day check back the next I'm sure I will have updated both days by then.
This is a Memories Cube I learned to make at crafttv weekly - I'd do a tutorial but why when Tricia can do it so much better then me - I bought my cubes at Hobby Lobby - you can size yours down to 1 1/4" and get 8 blocks in a bag for $2.99 or the 1 1/2" block come in a bag of 6 so you would have to buy 2 bags. you can buy them from through craftv I didn't check the price I was in to much of hurry to make one so I went to to HL to get mine that day:-)
Just for the fun of it I posted my picture of Shamu on an online photo contest and it is going to be published in a coffee table book "Endless Journeys" that is the prospective title - This is the second thing I have had published I had a poem published in anthology a few years back - Go see my "Shamu" photo and if you want vote on it to:-)
I've spent the last two weeks at my sewing machine. I've made 3 shirts for myself and one for my daughter (which will not be pictured her room is a disaster area - Enter at your own risk - lol) 2 purses (1 for my dd which again will not be pictured again for reason above:-) lol, 2 tote bags 4 - 3 1/2 gallon bucket organizers - 1 blanket for my dd and 3 pillow cases, and 1 gardening apron. I'm trying to get a headstart on Christmas gifts this year so I'm not running crazy at the last minuter.
This is the last shirt I made the other two are the same pattern, different material
3 1/2 gallon bucket organizer

Purse for my step daughter

We went on vacation this summer to Orlando, our first real vacation and no kids:-)
We went to Universal Studio and Sea World, it was a great time I had always wanted to go to Sea World so it was a wonderful time!
After walking around Universal Studio the day before I got back to he hotel and had 5 blisters on my right foot, there was no way I could walk around Sea World this day so my husband got me a motorized cart stating that neither one of us were going to have fun if he had to push me in a wheel chair all day:-) lol
These are from the Dolphin, seal and bird show - This was probably my favorite show that day the performers were just awesome, I did not get pictures of the birds but they would set them free during the performance it was really a beautiful performance.
I started working on this along time ago, I made the match box drawers and then put the book aside, I picked it up the other day added the niche and then somehow it suddenly turned into a birthday card I don't think I actually made it for anyone in particular, I guess someday someone will get a really cool birthday card:-) lol
Quotes 2 LIVE by... I got the idea for this from Shari Carroll's book 'Layers inspired collage for paper projects with meaning' Awesome book well worth the money -- and you can buy it a lot cheaper then I did by buying a used one at Amazon.com This book has awesome ideas in it!
